Press Release Body = Maurice Sims of 27 Wayz Entertainment is committed to
producing live events for people of all walks of life
but with a twist! His unique fusion of comedy, music,
art, poetry is unlike any other event you have
attended before. He recently introduced a monthly
event series called \"The Georgia Comedy & Music
Experience to the good folks of Athens\" that was well
received. This monthly event series provides a stage
for established as well as up and coming artists to
share their talent with the people of Georgia and eventually the world.
No, this event is not American Idol or even a talent
show! \"We approach only the very best talent and
allow only special individuals to grace our stage\" states Sims. \"We truly feel that
each and every artist performing at our events are tomorrow\'s star that you can see
today.\" His line up has opened up for well known heavyweights in the comedy industry
such as DL Hughley (The Kings of Comedy), George Wallace, Aries Spears (Mad TV) and
Bill Bellamy (Love Jones & How To Be A Player).
Mr. Sims of Atlanta, has produce four shows in the
last two years. The dream of entertaining people with
the art of comedy and music has been a vision of his
since the third grade. Sims started writing jokes in
1995 \"but never had the courage to get on stage to
share his thoughts with the rest of the world.\" After
years of hard work and managing various retail
establishments from sneaker power house Foot Locker,
urban clothier, Man Alive and now as a member of Uhaul of Northern Georgia field
management team, he boldly branched out and started 27 Wayz Entertainment in 2004.
\"I didn\'t have a clue of how to produce a show nor did I have a mentor, I had a
dream with a vision, developed a game plan, and just did it.\" Sims attended the
rookie entrepreneur school of hard knocks during his first show on a Friday night in
November of 2004 when in his home town of Selma Alabama. \"The response wasn\'t what I
expected, I blindly predicted a huge turn out and attendance in big numbers.\" Sims
proclaims \"and I learned three things that night, in any business watch your
overhead expenses regardless of how successful you think the turn out will be, the
admission price point has to reflect the local economy, and never try to compete
with high school football in the south which is tradition.\" The next few shows in
Alabama also provided Mr. Sims with other valuable learning opportunities that
school couldn\'t provide and set the foundation for the birth of the experience event
series.
Mr. Sims scouts his talent from the current mecca of
entertainment, the city of Atlanta where he currently
resides. \"I am out there hitting the pavement with my ears to the streets nightly.\"
\"If a establishment has
comedy or open microphone night going on, I am right
there trying to uncover a hidden jewel.\" This job
requires late hours and requires effective networking
skills which has provided Sims the opportunity to work
with a few artist that are on their way to the top.
The first show in Athens last month included a diverse
group of comedy and musical talent. The event was
hosted by Drew Thomas who is also host of Atlanta\'s
longest running comedy room, Phat Comedy located in
mid town. The bill included the hilarious Julian
Haynes, Byron Bowers, Karlous Miller, Clayton English and Noah Gardenswartz. In
addition to great comedy the show also featured the smoothed out sounds of newly
signed WU-Music Group/Universal Records recording artist Salakida of Stone Mecca. \"I
saw Salakida open for Anthony David and was mesmerized by her voice!\" Sims then
purchased her self titled debut album and \"fell in love with her music and had to
work with her.\" Sims states that \"all of the above comedians will be making their
television debut on Director Robert Townsend (Hollywood Shuffle/The Five Heartbeats)
Partners In Crime comedy showcase this fall on TBFN.
The Georgia Comedy & Music Experience producer is a
firm believer of promoting and providing diverse
entertainment for all, in a intimate setting, and for
a reasonable price of only $10 that he also shares
with the artist and covers all operating expenses to
travel to Georgia from around the country. \"I strive
to provide more entertainment value for our customers dollar monthly, but we truly
need your support to continue to make this dream happen!\"
The next show will take place again in Athens on
August 25Th at 1080 Baxter St and this show will
feature Houston Texas neo-soul vocalist Shaleyah
Rare along with comedians Mia Jackson, Sean Larkins,
Karlous Miller and Drew Thomas will be hosting.
Hopefully we will see you there or a city near you soon?
